by admin In the clubbing world, we’d be lying if we didn’t say it can get a bit Samey. Some club owners like to play it safe, modelling all their venues after clubs that are already successful. And some clubs have been around so long that even though they are glamorous and historic, they don’t really have the same “wow factor” today that they had back when they opened.
But many modern clubs are noticing this demand for newer, fresher, more fascinating shows, and extreme boundary testing. And whilst some cases, like the horse at the Mukai club in Miami, miss the mark and end up a bit of a mess, many of these clubs succeed in bringing us an experience that totally blows our minds.
Here we have, in no particular order, some of the strangest, most over the top, and most extravagant clubs that are a complete experience in and of themselves. Within the walls of these venues you will forget you are in a big city, and feel transported to a completely different world. If you are a seeker of the extreme, never satisfied with repeating an experience, always ready for something brand new, then these clubs may be for you.
AVALON – SINGAPORE
The Avalon in Singapore is a pretty interesting experience. Located out on a man-made island in the bay, this venue is a sort of futuristic house party type of experience, housing everything from a private theatre room to VIP booths, from a traditional dance floor to a chill lounge. The lower volume of the music compared to other clubs encourages you to roam and mingle, taking in all the sights and sounds this beautiful club has to offer.
L’AQUARIUM – PARIS, FRANCE
L’Aquarium nightclub might seem like a fairly chill, ordinary club at first. But there is something about rocking out underneath a massive wall of water, where stunning, exotic sea creatures swim right beside you, that you cannot put into words. This magical experience will have you feeling like an actual mermaid, or merman, and is not something to miss out on.
JUNGLE – LONDON, UK
Taking the trend of concept clubs to the extreme, Jungle in London is a truly immersive experience, with everything from the decorations, to the drinks, to the performances and the waitresses outfits, being jungle or wild themed. Other than the music and your fellow guests, you wouldn’t believe you were in the UK, let alone London. Actors dressed as animals and tribal people roam among the tables. You will actually feel like you’ve been dropped into the middle of the Amazon.
WET REPUBLIC – LAS VEGAS, USA
If you ever wanted to go on a crazy Spring Break style party, but sort of missed the window, you can still go wild at the Wet Republic day club in Las Vegas. The only Vegas saltwater pools, combined with 54,500 square feet of pools and cabanas and a list of awards six feet long, this is a place you have to see.
THE SAYERS CLUB – LOS ANGELES, USA
Even people living just down the road from The Sayers Club would be forgiven for not knowing it exists. Taking the “prohibition-era speakeasy” trend to a whole new height, this boutique club is hidden away in an unmarked building, only the rare queue letting you know it’s not an abandoned recording studio. And inside? Straight out of golden era Hollywood films, with vintage and retro features everywhere, and excellent bottle service.
1OAK – DUBAI, UAE
Although the 1OAK’s pedigree precedes it, with the 1OAK New York and 1OAK LA being famous for their unique vibe and exclusivity, the Dubai incarnation takes the usual class and glamour up to Emirate standards. You have not experienced true luxury, sensuality, and mystique in a nightclub until you have been here, guaranteed. This fresh new club is somewhere between trippy and regal, a true VIP experience you have to enjoy at least once in a lifetime.
STURECOMPAGNIET – STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN
The Sturecompagniet nightclub complex offers a powerful variety of luxurious experiences, all under one roof. The main club, known to the locals simple as the Sture, is relaxed and fun, with a sort of preppy vibe to it. The Suite is a trendier, more relaxed traditional bar, an oasis of class away from the city. And the V club is an ultra-exclusive, sophisticated VIP club.
MAGIC HOUR – NEW YORK, USA
If you like the world of the weird and wonderful, but you prefer a more relaxed nightclub experience, then the Magic Hour club may be the place for you. Split into five distinct environments, this rooftop nightclub offers sexy animal girls and a mini golf course called Foreplay, with even more sexy anthropomorphic creatures. There is even a seating area that spins like a carousel, and an upscale garden party. Pure, relaxed whimsy!
Anyone who’s already been to The Box in either of its venues knows that it’s a… unique experience. The Box’s claim to fame is that it is the most limit-pushing, raunchiest, eclectic show available in any modern nightclub. You could see anything from a drag show, to a local indie band, to people playing their bodies like instruments, and so much more. The experience is always fresh, every time.
BESSONICA – MOSCOW, RUSSIA
Bessonica doesn’t count on the greatest DJs ever, or a fish tank wall, or giant sexy bunnies. What the Bessonica nightclub does have is the best dystopian atmosphere ever. An all-night party set in a circus tent, between burning fires and rough metallic finishes, where trapeze artists and acrobats perform stunts to delight the crowd. You will feel like you’re a superhero in post-apocalyptic Russia, enjoying yourself with the other victorious survivors.
